Answers

Answer:

A story I wrote a year ago count is a little over 800 words.

Explanation:

It was a perfect day, long ago in a time forgotten by man and living beast of this age, living on a small island, isolated from the world. On this island was a tribe of men and women who shared the duties of survival. Living in peace for years with little violence, and beautiful children. Sunny days to walk the shore line and play games in the long grass, or sit outside and drink ale, and spirits.

However, on the darkest of days. Clouds covered the island, and mass panic struck out; while it rained fire from the sky. The villagers ran in circles, grabing at the young ones to pull them inside to safety. For they were unsure on how to respond to this unseen threat. As the smoldering smoke swirled, clearing to reveal a ship descending from the heavens.  Confused by this, the village chief  Etheldreda went to wait for the ship to land. As he stood there brave and true, eyeing the ship with a definitive look upon his face, the ramp of the ship let loose and landed. A man. No taller than he started to walk from the ship. Clad in a navy blue vest, gray tight pants, a leather halter holding his sword inches from the ground, and a flintlock on the other side.

The chief braced himself, looking stern and strong his motive to not show any fear.

“You must be the chief?” The man from the ship said with a half evil grin.

“Yes they call me such.”

“How is it you speak our language?”

“Easy when some such as yourselves have come to me. Yet here I come to you in search of more” The captain told him. The chief was unsure of the man’s motives but feared the worst. “Tell me, stranger. You seek what, here in my homeland?” He asked gesturing behind him to the village.

“I seek only the might of a nation, to keep all at bay for me. More or less I want this land to be mine.” The sleek man said with a smirk. The chief looked toward his tribe and village before speaking.

“You say this yet you shoot fire from the sky killing my people?” The Captain takes a deep breath inhaling the foul smoke of burning wood and flesh.

“Yes old man I do. It's simple really. I keep some of your people alive to make you happy, but kill a good amount to not resist me. I humble my pray before making it subdue to me.” The chief looked around at his village in ruins, “ You seek to rule an unruly bunch. I’ve learned over my lifetime never to try to take things that are not given.” As the chief said this he drew his own sword, at the ready to protect what is rightfully his.

The man at this point grinned a truly fierce wicked smile. As his sword scrapped the sheth. In one stroke which seemed like seconds as time stood still, and in one fluid movement took the chief's head, sending it spiraling toward the feet of a small child. Men and women of the village tried to take the man down only to fall at the end of his sword before he even noticed the small child staring into the eyes of the severed head. He approached the child slowly, blade at the ready to strike him down, yet as he came closer he saw no fear in the child who just stared at him with definece. “Boy? Tell me your name.” he said in the child's language. Not a word came from the child only silence, and that seemed like defiance.

“Child I will not ask your name again or fall like the others of your tribe.” he said, snarling at the child, yet he couldn’t bring himself to strike when the child did not answer. “Fine I shall give you a name when the time comes. Now take my hand and let us be off.” he said smiling extending a hand. The child took his hand seemingly not able to understand the massacre that had occurred.

“Captain! We have done it..” the man's voice trailed off as he saw the child holding the captain’s hand.

“Sir, you realize there is a small child at your side?” The captain waved a dismissive hand, at his crew member.

“Are you an idiot? Yes he is a prize for myself since I can not have children of my own this one shows promise. So I will raise him to be a fine warrior for the kingdom.” he said looking down and smiling at the child. “Now come boy we have work to do, and not as much time to do it in.” With that they boarded the flying ship and were off to a new world for the child.

No one noticed though a small group of the tribe standing on the edge of the village watching the ship disappear behind the glimmering sunlight and clouds.

What information does a podcast typically include in the introduction?
A. Identifying information about the presenter or producer
B. Links to other sources of information on the same topic

Answers

Answer:

A

Explanation:

Because 'B' makes no sense.

The information that a podcast typically includes in the introduction is identifying information about the presenter or producer.

What is a podcast?

Because they combine words with voices, podcasts provide much more than printed material. Even if you may have a favorite blogger or author whose work you enjoy reading, their words take on a whole new meaning when you hear them spoken aloud.

The creation and delivery of audio files using RSS feed to users' computers are known as podcasting. Users can then listen to these files on their smartphones or digital music and multimedia players like iPods by uploading them to streaming services.

Some devices come with built-in podcast applications that let you download episodes or listen online for free.

Therefore, the correct option is A. Identifying information about the presenter or producer.

Finding Bombs in Germany
During World War II, American and British forces dropped millions of tons of bombs on
German cities. Nearly ten percent of the bombs never exploded. The war ended in 1945,
but more than two thousand tons of unexploded bombs are still found in Germany each
year. Before any construction project is undertaken, the site must be checked for
unexploded bombs. Buried bombs are often discovered. For this reason, Germany has a
special force of firefighters and police officers, called the KMBD, to defuse and remove
these bombs. Even though the war has been over for seven decades, the KMBD is one of
the busiest bomb squads on the planet.
What is the main idea of the passage?
a) because there is so much construction in germany, the country has a special force trained to defuse bombs.
b) because there are so many unexploded bombs in germany, the country has a special force to defuse them.
c) almost 10% of the bombs dropped on germany during world war II never exploded

Answers

Answer: I think its B because in ww2 the town Aachen was riddled with bombs and so to this day, there are still lots of those bombs within the presence. Therefore, it takes bomb squads and special forces needed to exterminate these bombs. Hopefully, this is the correct answer.

The main idea of the passage is because there are so many unexploded bombs in Germany, the country has a special force to defuse them. Thus, option B is correct.

What is the passage?

"A passage can be defined as a collection of words or sentences that make a paragraph in itself it can be taken from a book a research paper or an article as it was given without any editing done on it."

The the main idea of the passage was related to the bombs. And how the country would have a special force that was established to diffuse them. This was because of America and the Britishers were having a war with Germany.

They were various forms that were found and they would needed a team that would be able to diffuse them. Therefore, option B is the correct option.

At the end of the essay, Twain urges the reader, "Get a bicycle. You will not regret it, if you live." Why do you think he makes this statement? Provide evidence from the text to support your response.

Answers

Answer:

He made this statement because he believed that learning to ride a bicycle was a big challenge and that someone could die doing it, as it had happened before, but riding a bicycle was very pleasant after the individual learned how to handle it.

Explanation:

Samuel Clemens died riding a bicycle, before Mark Twain wrote the passage shown in the question above. It is likely that Twain made a reference to this incident, but with the characteristic humor of his works.

Twain understood that riding a bike was a big challenge, it required a lot of control and balance, and that at any moment an individual could lose control of the bike by fatally injuring himself, however, he believed that the bike rides were very pleasant and that no one would stay sorry to have such a ride, if they survived, of course.

Answer:

Despite having several accidents, Twain persisted because he realized that his skill was steadily improving. Twain was excited by this learning process:

The steps of one's progress are distinctly marked. At the end of each lesson he knows he has acquired something, and he also knows what that something is, and likewise that it will stay with him.

In the last line, Twain tells his readers that they also could feel the excitement and sense of achievement that he experienced from learning to ride a bicycle. He adds a touch of sarcastic humor by noting that they might die in the attempt.

The Necklace

She was one of those pretty and charming girls born, as though fate had blundered over her, into a family of artisans. She had no marriage portion, no expectations, no means of getting known, understood, loved, and wedded by a man of wealth and distinction; and she let herself be married off to a little clerk in the Ministry of Education. Her tastes were simple because she had never been able to afford any other, but she was as unhappy as though she had married beneath her; for women have no caste or class, their beauty, grace, and charm serving them for birth or family, their natural delicacy, their instinctive elegance, their nimbleness of wit, are their only mark of rank, and put the slum girl on a level with the highest lady in the land.

She suffered endlessly, feeling herself born for every delicacy and luxury. She suffered from the poorness of her house, from its mean walls, worn chairs, and ugly curtains. All these things, of which other women of her class would not even have been aware, tormented and insulted her. The sight of the little Breton girl who came to do the work in her little house aroused heart-broken regrets and hopeless dreams in her mind. She imagined silent antechambers, heavy with Oriental tapestries, lit by torches in lofty bronze sockets, with two tall footmen in knee-breeches sleeping in large arm-chairs, overcome by the heavy warmth of the stove. She imagined vast saloons hung with antique silks, exquisite pieces of furniture supporting priceless ornaments, and small, charming, perfumed rooms, created just for little parties of intimate friends, men who were famous and sought after, whose homage roused every other woman's envious longings.

When she sat down for dinner at the round table covered with a three-days-old cloth, opposite her husband, who took the cover off the soup-tureen, exclaiming delightedly: "Aha! Scotch broth! What could be better?" she imagined delicate meals, gleaming silver, tapestries peopling the walls with folk of a past age and strange birds in faery forests; she imagined delicate food served in marvelous dishes, murmured gallantries, listened to with an inscrutable smile as one trifled with the rosy flesh of trout or wings of asparagus chicken.

She had no clothes, no jewels, nothing. And these were the only things she loved; she felt that she was made for them. She had longed so eagerly to charm, to be desired, to be wildly attractive and sought after.

She had a rich friend, an old school friend whom she refused to visit, because she suffered so keenly when she returned home. She would weep whole days, with grief, regret, despair, and misery.

Read each of the excerpts below from “The Necklace.” Most of them provide textual evidence for a theme related to the main character's belief that having more money would make her happy. Which excerpt is NOT related to this theme.

They walked down towards the Seine, desperate and shivering. At last they found on the quay one of those old night-prowling carriages which are only to be seen in Paris after dark, as though they were ashamed of their shabbiness in the daylight.

One evening her husband came home with an exultant air, holding a large envelope in his hand. "Here's something for you," he said. Swiftly she tore the paper and drew out a printed card on which were these words: "The Minister of Education and Madame Ramponneau request the pleasure of the company of Monsieur and Madame Loisel at the Ministry on the evening of Monday, January the 18th."

"I'm utterly miserable at not having any jewels, not a single stone, to wear," she replied. "I shall look absolutely no one. I would almost rather not go to the party." "Wear flowers," he said. "They're very smart at this time of the year. For ten francs you could get two or three gorgeous roses." She was not convinced.

She suffered endlessly, feeling herself born for every delicacy and luxury. She suffered from the poorness of her house, from its mean walls, worn chairs, and ugly curtains.

This arrangement would have worked well enough if it had not been for the disputes between Snowball and Napoleon. These two disagreed at every point where disagreement was possible. If one of them suggested sowing a bigger acreage with barley, the other was certain to demand a bigger acreage of oats, and if one of them said that such and such a field was just right for cabbages, the other would declare that it was useless for anything except roots. Each had his own following, and there were some violent debates. At the Meetings, Snowball often won over the majority by his brilliant speeches, but Napoleon was better at canvassing support for himself in between times.
