Need help please, It's urgent, which quote to support the idea....
Read the excerpt below from "Icarus" by Jean Lang.
In terror Icarus's father Daedalus watched him, and as Daedalus called to him in a voice of anguished warning that was drowned by the whistling rush of the air currents through the wings of Icarus, and there befell the dreaded thing. It seemed as though the strong wings had begun to lose their power. Like a wounded bird Icarus fluttered, lunged sidewise from the straight, clean line of his flight, recovered himself, and fluttered again. And then, like the bird into whose soft breast the sure hand of a mighty archer has driven an arrow, downwards he fell, turning over and yet turning again, downwards, ever downwards, until he fell with a plunge into the sea that still was radiant in shining emerald and translucent blue.
Then the car of Apollo drove on. His rays had slain one who was too greatly daring, and now they shone on the little white feathers that had fallen from the broken wings and floated on the water like the petals of a torn flower.
Stricken at heart was Daedalus, but there was no time to lament his son’s untimely end, for even now the ships of Minos might be in pursuit. Onward he flew to safety, and in Sicily built a temple to Apollo, and there hung up his wings as a propitiatory offering to the god who had slain his son.
Which quote best supports the idea that Icarus was reckless?
a) "Onward he flew to safety, and in Sicily built a temple to Apollo."
b) "His rays had slain one who was too greatly daring."
c) "Then the car of Apollo droveon."
d) "It seemed as though the strong wings had begun to lose their power
Note: I confused between b) and d)....

Answer 1

Answer:

Hey, this may be really late...but I'm going through the English section on brainly and found your question...

Your answer is B. "His rays had slain one who was too greatly daring."

Explanation:

Before this quote the story goes, "Then the car of Apollo drove on." This "car" is actually the sun chariot which Apollo drives. The quote is saying that the sun's rays killed Icarus for "being too daring". This is concluded because he wanted to keep flying higher and higher until he got too close to the sun.

Answer:the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques.

Explanation:

Read the excerpt from The Crisis, Number I by Thomas Paine.

“I once felt all that kind of anger, which a man ought to feel, against the mean principles that are held by the Tories: a noted one, who kept a tavern at Amboy, was standing at his door, with as pretty a child in his hand, about eight or nine years old, as I ever saw, and after speaking his mind as freely as he thought was prudent, finished with this unfatherly expression, ‘Well! give me peace in my day.’ Not a man lives on the continent but fully believes that a separation must some time or other finally take place, and a generous parent should have said, ‘If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace;’ and this single reflection, well applied, is sufficient to awaken every man to duty.”

Which is a central idea of this excerpt?
Paine feels that everyone should be able to speak freely, which is why he supports independence.
Paine believes that colonists should fight for independence so their children can live in peace.
Paine believes that some people are selfish and place their needs above others.

Answer:

O Both Brutus and Antony ask rhetorical questions to  make points.

Explanation:

William Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar" is about the death of Caesar at the hands of Brutus, a close ally, and Cassius who conspired against the man. The play also deals with themes of greed, power, loyalty, appearance vs. evil, etc.

In the given monologues of both Brutus and Antony at the death of Caesar, their main point is expressed through the use of rhetorical questions. While Brutus explains his motive in giving a hand to the conspirators for the murder, Antony uses his speech to portray an image of Caesar counterclaiming Brutus's point.

Thus, the correct answer is the first option.

Friend A: Yeah, me too. I was thinking of going on a trip but due to lack of resources, I had to cancel that plan.

Friend B: That's bad. By the way, you can still go out, within the state. It won't cost much.

Friend A: I guess. Maybe, if you are okay with it, we can go to that famous cave in the forested area of that national park that was opened a few months back.

Friend B: Yeah, we can do that. I had always wanted to visit that place but haven't really thought it out.

Friend A: Yeah? Then that's great. What about we both go there for an excursion, visit the place, explore the forest and just enjoy?

Friend B: I would love that. We can also pack some food and snacks.

Friend A: Sounds great. When will we plan to go?

Friend B: What about next week? It's just a few days left and we can use the upcoming days to plan and prepare for the trip. It's not that far but it will take us some hours.

Friend A: That's okay. I don't mind traveling as long as I enjoy it. And I know I am going to enjoy this.

Friend B: Same here. It's been a while I've gone out and explored natural areas like zoos and parks.

Friend A: Then this trip will be beneficial for both of us.

Friend B: Yeah. I am so excited about it. I will tell my parents about it tonight.

Friend A: I will also do that tonight. Well, I have to go as it's getting late. Will keep in touch.

Friend B: Yeah, will do. Catch you later.

Friend A: Bye.

Friend B: Bye.

Proposal 2: A great way to make money for the library would be holding a car wash. The softball team at my school raised over $400 at their car wash last year! The car wash could be held in the library parking lot on a Saturday morning. You could ask local high school students to volunteer to wash the cars. That would be a great way to get students involved with the library. It takes two or three volunteers to wash a car quickly, so you would need at least ten volunteers. You could charge around ten dollars per car. And since you are asking, what I find frustrating at City

Well first of all, I always try my best to stay positive and not to hold any grudges. With that being said, I occasionally run into some frustrations at work.

• Big Picture

Looking at a larger picture, sometimes I find it frustrating that I don’t have someone that I can really share my excitement with or get advice from. I know this is silly frustration, but I am currently the only marketing individual so when I am talking about marketing ideas, I never know who to talk to. I know Roger is my supervisor, but he is also the President of the company so I assume he has a lot more pressing topics to discuss than to hear all I have to say (sometimes I can get rambling and I don’t want to waste anyone’s time). So I occasionally mix it up and I’ll talk to Cara, Melissa, Amanda, etc. That is probably one of the most frustrating things. I like collaborating and I honestly would rather have short 15 min marketing meetings every week instead of having 1 larger marketing meeting once a month. It would save me more time and make me more efficient. I would rather do small steps every week instead of doing all of the steps and finding out that no one liked it or finding out we are not all on the same page. Also meeting more frequently would help me a lot because I hate running into a question and just having to write it down for the marketing meeting two weeks away. In a perfect world, if I had a question I would love to just

Dear friend.

I am writing this letter because I want to receive some advice from you that can greatly influence my future. I'm in doubt about which career to pursue when I grow up. I have three options and I would like you to help me decide.

The first career I want to pursue is an artist career. I've always loved art and drawing has always been one of my favorite hobbies. I am delighted to create paintings that express my thoughts and see my emotions taking shape and taking on color. It would be great to work that way.

My second option is to become a doctor. The idea of helping people in need is appealing. I'm also very interested in subjects related to biology and life in general. I believe this would be a very noble career and that I would be very happy in it.

My third option would be to work in business. I believe the chances of having a job in this area are very high and I could help my parents in the family business, which would not be a bad idea.

I know the three options are very different from each other, but I would like to know your opinion about them.

I await your reply.
