I hear America singing

Compare this poem with your vision of America today. Using supporting evidence, answer this question: How has America changed over time?

Answers

Answer 1
America is a much more divided nation than the poem conveys. The thought of “The American Identity” has changed. The poem conveys us as hardworkers, strong people living out their daily lives. Today, we could hardly be considered as such by other nations. America has become so divided that the songs we sing are no longer that of our collective, but rather songs of hatred and division. Whitman spoke for common human identity and he would never support the divided America we live in today.

Describe the Mexican immigrants in Texas. Why did they emigrate from Mexico to Texas? What are some examples of their culture in Texas?

Answers

Answer:

Mexican immigrants have to get papers in order to live in the US legally

Explanation:

Answer:

The most influential immigrant group in Texas culture came from Mexico. Mass relocations occurred at the turn of the 20th century due to the Mexican Revolution. Agricultural expansion attracted laborers. By 1930, Mexican American population of Texas exceeded 700,000, and by 1960 it exceeded 1.4 million. Many Mexican Americans worked as migrant farm laborers in Texas who began on the farms of South Texas and moved north into the Panhandle. After World War II, increased numbers of Mexican Americans left rural areas and moved to urban areas. Mexican Americans actively sought to bridge their two worlds. By the 1920s, Mexican American leaders sought integration of Mexican Americans into American society. They began learning English and participating in the political system while still honoring traditions of Mexico. By the 1990s, nearly 40% of all Mexican Americans in the workforce held skilled or professional positions. Mexican American culture blended the customs of Mexico with those of the U.S. Mexican customs were heavily influenced by Spanish traditions. Spanish newspapers and radio stations addressed news and concerns of both nations. Mexican Americans have a strong literary tradition, Tex-Mex food (a blend of the two cuisines), and are represented by many painters, sculptors, and musicians like artist Manuel Acosta and singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.

What was the Reign of Terror, and how did it show that revolutions can lead to radical violence in the name of political ideals?

Answers

Reign of Terror, also called the Terror, French La Terreur, period of the French Revolution from September 5, 1793, to July 27, 1794 (9 Thermidor, year II). With civil war spreading from the Vendée and hostile armies surrounding France on all sides, the Revolutionary government decided to make “Terror” the order of the day (September 5 decree) and to take harsh measures against those suspected of being enemies of the Revolution (nobles, priests, and hoarders). In Paris a wave of executions followed. In the provinces, representatives on mission and surveillance committees instituted local terrors. The Terror had an economic side embodied in the Maximum, a price-control measure demanded by the lower classes of Paris, and a religious side that was embodied in the program of de-Christianization pursued by the followers of Jacques Hébert.

During the Terror, the Committee of Public Safety (of which Maximilien de Robespierre was the most prominent member) exercised virtual dictatorial control over the French government. In the spring of 1794, it eliminated its enemies to the left (the Hébertists) and to the right (the Indulgents, or followers of Georges Danton). Still uncertain of its position, the committee obtained the Law of 22 Prairial, year II (June 10, 1794), which suspended a suspect’s right to public trial and to legal assistance and left the jury a choice only of acquittal or death. The “Great Terror” that followed, in which about 1,400 persons were executed, contributed to the fall of Robespierre on July 27 (9 Thermidor).

Answers

Answer:

It was during the New Kingdom that the Egyptian Empire conquered the most lands. Pharaohs launched wide ranging expeditions taking over lands to the south (Kush, Nubia) and lands to the east (Israel, Lebanon, Syria). At the same time, Egypt expanded trade with many external nations and kings. In the New Kingdom, Egyptian religion underwent a significant change (not only during the reign of Akhenaten). The growth of the cult of Amun brought with it a new age of state-sponsored religion, and the temple of Amun at Karnak in particular saw a huge growth. Karnak was located in the capital city of Thebes. It was brought into contact with peoples in south Western Asia as well as other parts of Africa. Trade was greatly expanded.
