Roundcubemail

A webmail client for IMAP which uses the Web Server app to provide a browser-based, multi-lingual e-mail user interface. The app is powered by Roundcube. Features include MIME support, address book, folder manipulation, message searching and spell checking.

The ClearOS Webmail packaging also combines two stable and popular plugins - Sieve (managing user filters) and Global Address Book. The app includes the ability to backup, store offsite and restore Roundcube's configuration settings, address book data and user filters that have been created with the Sieve plugin.

By purchasing this app in the Marketplace, you help support eGloo developers maintain this app and build new ones. In addition, US $5 of every app purchase will be given to the Roundcube developers to help support their efforts in providing a simple and easy-to-use Webmail client for use on premise or in a hosted cloud environment.

Versions

There is only one version ($25/yr) in the Marketplace at the current time.

Two versions of the ClearOS Webmail app are available - Basic (command line installation) and Standard (Marketplace installation).

Installation

If your system does not have this app available, you can install it via the Marketplace.

For Roundcubemail to work, Secure IMAP (IMAPS) must be enabled in the IMAP and POP Server.

You can find this feature in the menu system at the following location:

<navigation>Server|Messaging|Roundcube Webmail</navigation>

The archives only contain the Roundcube configuration, address books and user filters. They are not mail archives.

Roundcube Package

Roundcube is free and open-source software, available for download here. The developers of this app for ClearOS Marketplace have made the package (RPM) freely available. If you are against purchasing the app and don't require the following 'value-adds':

  1. Simple point and click install
  2. Removes installing/configuring MySQL
  3. Automates bootstrap process
  4. Provides UI for performing SQL backups and Sieve rules (created by users)
  5. Contributing to the developers (both Roundcube and the 3rd party developers who have brought this app to the Marketplace

you can simply install Roundcube with:

yum --enablerepo=clearos-contribs roundcubemail

Once installed, the app will be available in /usr/share/roundcubemail directory and an Apache configlet will exist in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ called roundcubemail.conf.

You will need to go through the configuration manually. To start, rename the hidden .installer directory:

mv /usr/share/roundcubemail/.installer /usr/share/roundcubemail/installer

and navigate to:

https://x.x.x.x/webmail/installer

Where x.x.x.x is your server's IP/hostname.

Troubleshooting

If you get a warning message “Connection to IMAP server failed.”, please ensure you have enabled Secure IMAP (IMAPS) in the IMAP and POP Server
